Privacy Policy

SnapPray ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains how we handle your information when you use the SnapPray iOS app.

What We Collect

SnapPray collects minimal data to provide its service:

Photos — see "Camera & Photo Library" below for details on how photos are handled for free and Premium users. We do not store your photos.
Prayer text — prayers you generate are stored locally on your device using Apple's SwiftData framework. We log anonymous prayer category counts (e.g. "feeling — anxious") to improve our prayer library. No prayer text is stored on our servers.
Device identifier — an anonymous device ID is used to track prayer streaks and prevent abuse. It is not linked to your identity.
Subscription status — if you subscribe to SnapPray Premium, Apple processes your payment. We receive only confirmation of your subscription status.

How We Use AI

SnapPray uses Anthropic's Claude AI to generate personalized prayers. When you request an AI prayer:

For text-based prayers (I'm Feeling, Pray About, Pray for Others, Pray Scripture, Pray Milestones): your prayer request — including the mood or category you chose, your prayer style preference, and any context you typed — is sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) via our server to generate a personalized prayer.
For Premium photo prayers: the photo itself is also sent, as described in "Camera & Photo Library" above.

Anthropic processes the request only to generate your prayer. Per their commercial terms, they do not train on customer API data and do not retain requests beyond what is needed to deliver the response. We do not send any personally identifying information to Anthropic.

We do not retain your prayer requests or generated prayers on our servers. Prayers you save are stored locally on your device.

Camera & Photo Library

Photos are only accessed when you explicitly choose to take or select one for prayer. We never access your photos in the background.

Free photo prayers: Your photo is analyzed entirely on your device using Apple Vision. The photo never leaves your device. We use the on-device analysis to match a prayer from our curated library.

Premium AI photo prayers: When you request a personalized AI prayer for a photo, the photo is sent through our server (Railway) to our AI provider (Anthropic) to generate the prayer. The photo is used only to create the prayer — it is processed and immediately discarded. Neither our server nor our AI provider stores your photos. We do not retain photos on our server.

When you share a prayer image, the image is sent through whatever channel you choose (text, social media, save to photos, etc.).

Notifications

SnapPray may request permission to send prayer reminders. Notifications are scheduled locally on your device. You can disable them at any time in your iPhone Settings.

Anonymous Analytics

To understand how SnapPray is used and improve the app, we collect anonymous usage data:

A device-level identifier generated by the app on first launch (not your Apple ID, not linked to any personal information)
The general country your device is in (from your device's locale settings)
Anonymous events such as prayer counts and which prayer flows are used

This data is sent to our server (Railway) for our own analytics. It is never shared with advertisers, sold, or used to track you across other apps or websites.

We do not collect your name, email, or any personally identifying information
We do not track your location
We do not sell your data to any third party — ever
We do not display advertising
We do not share your data with advertisers

Data Storage & Security

Your prayers and personal data are stored locally on your device. Anonymous usage statistics are stored on Railway, our cloud infrastructure provider, and are protected by industry-standard security measures.

Data Retention

We retain data only as long as needed to provide the service.

Photos: Discarded immediately after processing. Not retained on our server or by our AI provider.

Prayer requests and generated prayers: Not retained on our servers. Saved prayers are stored locally on your device until you delete them.

Anonymous analytics: Retained for service improvement purposes.

Children's Privacy

SnapPray is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us.

Your Rights

Since SnapPray stores your prayer history locally on your device, you can delete all your data at any time by deleting the app. For any questions about your data, contact us at the address below.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app. Continued use of SnapPray after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
